Description

Cynorkis elegans (also called Disperis elegans, among many other common names) is a species of orchid native to Madagascar and the Comoros. It is a small, terrestrial orchid with a single, erect, leafy stem. The flowers are white or pale yellow, with a lip that is yellow or brownish yellow. It grows in humid, shady forests at elevations of up to 1,500 meters.

Uses & Benefits

Cynorkis elegans is used in traditional medicine for treating skin diseases, as an antispasmodic, and as a diuretic. It is also used as an ornamental plant in gardens.
