Description
Epidendrum doroteae (also called 'Dorotea's Epidendrum', among many other common names) is a species of orchid native to Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. It is found in humid montane forests at elevations of 1000-3000 m. It is an epiphytic plant with long, thin, branching stems and small, oblong leaves. The flowers are small and white with a yellow lip.
Cultivation and Propagation
Epidendrum doroteae is a terrestrial orchid that can be grown in a pot or in the ground. It prefers a well-drained, slightly acidic soil and should be watered regularly. Propagation is done by division or by seed. Seeds should be sown in a moist, sterile medium and kept in a warm, humid environment until germination occurs.
