Description
Epidendrum macasense (also called Macas Epidendrum, among many other common names) is an epiphytic orchid species native to Ecuador and Peru. It has a short, creeping rhizome and produces long, thin, arching stems with many small, oblong, leathery leaves. The inflorescence is a terminal raceme with many fragrant, yellow-green flowers.

Epidendrum macasense is used in traditional medicine for treating fever, headaches, and stomach pain. It is also used as an ornamental plant in gardens.
Cultivation and Propagation
Epidendrum macasense can be propagated by division or by seed. To divide, carefully remove the plant from its pot and separate the rhizomes. Replant the divisions in a well-draining potting mix. To propagate by seed, sow the seeds in a well-draining potting mix and keep the soil moist. Place the pot in a warm, bright spot and the seedlings should emerge in a few weeks.
