Description
Taeniophyllum pahangense (also called 'Pahang Leaf Orchid', among many other common names) is a small epiphytic orchid with a single, short, erect stem and two opposite, deciduous leaves. It is native to Southeast Asia, from India to Thailand, and is found in tropical and subtropical forests. It grows on trees and rocks in moist, shady habitats.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
The flower of Taeniophyllum pahangense is small and white, with a yellow center. The seed is a small, black, ovoid seed. The seedlings are small and delicate, with a single pair of leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Taeniophyllum pahangense can be propagated by division or by seed. To propagate by division, separate the offsets from the main plant and plant them in a well-draining potting mix. To propagate by seed, sow the seeds in a well-draining potting mix and keep the soil moist. The plant prefers bright, indirect sunlight and should be watered regularly, but not over-watered.
